Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine is a mercurial singer and composer who weds soul gospel jazz and R&B in a signature mix. From Broadway to European clubs and festivals, the singer has done work everywhere. Her real name is Denise White. She hails from Chester Pennsylvania, where she began her music career playing the piano and singing in the church. After attending Spellman College, Atlanta she began her musical journey on Atlanta's R&B music scene. The Fighting Temptations The single featuring her voice, Stalk You the House was released only in Japan. It's been remixed numerous times and has become a staple of her live shows. The Fighting Temptations was the another soundtrack on which she sang. The year 2005 saw Tyler Perry hired her as the primary keyboardist in his stage play Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday was the Grammy and Tony Award winner who approached her in 2007 to serve as the director of chorus for Dreamgirls which was a stage production in Atlanta's National Black Arts Festival. Sunshine was recognized nationally through her performances on four consecutive days during 2008's Democratic National Convention. She was later invited to sing in the Obama administration's inaugural in 2009.
